Les Landes is also worth visiting for its highly reputed gastronomy which draws on the land and sea and gives off scents of hospitality and the good life; foie gras, duck, Chalosse beef, free range chickens, quails, oysters, lobster, trout, asparagus, kiwi, and wine from Tursan and Chalosse.
Here in Les Landes festivals and celebrations are an integral part of peoples lives, 331 villages, 331 festivals including 8 ferias, 80 arenas, 20 folklore groups. Come mid August for 6 days and nights of celebrations at the Dax Feria or early September for the Salsa and Toros Extravaganza. You will 'live' the festivals to the sounds of many lively bands that the hestayres (easily recognisable, thanks to their red scarves) will be only too pleased to invite you to. Les Landes is a land of tradition that is people love to share....naturally.
